Switch Between Miller & Lincoln Without Calibration

Easily switch between Miller and Lincoln welding machines without having to recalibrate your remote each time.

HL – Extra Custom Calibration Mode

Your HL Wireless Remote includes an extra mode called HL, which allows you to save a custom calibration for another welding machine, such as your own personal machine.

Simply switch to HL Mode and calibrate the remote with that machine.

Once calibration is complete, the settings are automatically saved in HL Mode, so you can use that machine again without having to recalibrate it.

How to Recalibrate Your HL Wireless Remote

Not all welding machines perform exactly the same. Some machines may be out of calibration, causing the remote's settings to differ from the machine's actual output.

When this happens, you can easily recalibrate your HL Wireless Remote to match that specific machine.

Watch the video below to learn how to recalibrate your remote.

Automatic Calibration Memory

Once calibration is complete, your remote automatically saves the new calibration to the mode you're currently using: H4, H2, L2, L4, or HL.

Important: F1 & F2 Settings

  • F1: You can leave this set to 35. The exact value is not critical.
  • F2: Must always match your welding machine's maximum output setting.

Important Information & Safety Tips

1

Important: DO NOT Twist the Pigtail Connector

Diagram: push the pigtail connector straight in to connect and pull it straight out to disconnect. Never twist it. Damage from twisting costs a $65 repair fee plus shipping and is not covered by the warranty.

For all Miller and Lincoln pigtail users:

When connecting or disconnecting the pigtail from your welding machine, push in or pull out straight only. Never twist the connector.

We have received several damaged pigtails because the connectors were twisted during removal, often by helpers who were unfamiliar with the proper procedure.

Please make sure anyone using your welding machine knows how to properly connect and disconnect the pigtail to prevent damage.

Repair fee: if the pigtail connector is damaged by twisting it while connecting or removing it, a $65 repair fee applies, plus shipping costs.

Not covered by warranty: damage caused by twisting the connector is considered user error and is NOT covered by the product warranty.

Battery Life – Up to 70 Hours

Both the handheld remote and the receiver offer up to 70 hours of battery life on a full charge.

How to Check Battery Levels

Handheld Remote

The handheld remote's battery level is displayed at the top of its screen.

Battery-Saving Tip

You can turn OFF your handheld remote while welding without affecting your welding machine's current amperage setting. Simply turn it back ON whenever you need to adjust the amperage.

By turning the handheld remote ON only when needed and OFF when not in use, a single charge can last up to 2–3 months, depending on usage.

This helps maximize battery life without interrupting your welding work.

Receiver

To check the receiver's battery level:

  1. Turn ON both the receiver and the handheld remote.
  2. Press and hold the UP 5 and DOWN 5 buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds, then release both buttons.
  3. The handheld remote will display a number from 0 to 8, indicating the receiver's battery level.
  • 8 = Fully charged
  • 0 = Empty

Charger LED Indicator

The LED indicator on the charger shows the charging status:

  • RED – Battery is charging.
  • GREEN – Battery is fully charged.

Once the charger indicator turns GREEN, disconnect the charger.

Battery Storage & Care

  • Keep both batteries above 30% during normal use.
  • For long-term storage, charge both the handheld remote and receiver to approximately 60% before storing them.
  • Never store either device with a completely discharged battery. Prolonged deep discharge can permanently damage the battery.
  • Check battery levels periodically during storage and recharge as needed.

Important Battery Charging Safety Warning

NEVER charge your HL Wireless Remote or receiver overnight or leave either device charging unattended.

Always charge in a visible, well-ventilated area, away from flammable materials. Never charge while sleeping or in a location where you cannot monitor the devices.

Disconnect the charger once charging is complete.

Never charge a battery that is damaged, swollen, leaking, or unusually hot. Stop charging immediately if you notice excessive heat, smoke, or an unusual smell.

Miller Pigtail – Black & Red Wires

The black and red wires on the Miller pigtail are only needed for the Miller CST 282 Electric and Trailblazer welding machines.

For these machines:

  1. Turn on both the welding machine and the HL Wireless Remote.
  2. Plug the remote's pigtail into the welding machine.
  3. Connect the black and red wires together to enable remote operation.

For other Miller welding machines, these two wires are not needed.
